The film began with Nobita waking up after dreaming of a dream where he sees the stone monkey and Doraemon as a traveller of the Western Dynasty. He practises playing school with his friends. In the end, he promises to find the real Sun Wukong to play his role. Unable to find Doraemon at home – who is enjoying a virtual video game – Nobita travels in 645 AD, where he notices Sun Wukong seeing his face and later helped a white hungry child, whom he helps. Hours later, he brings his friends with Doraemon, after which he is stopped by a rebel-held army. They later spot Tang Seng, after which Doraemon shows Nobita as a stone monkey through the game. During some interaction, a monster secretly exits the game.
After losing his stake, Nobita and his friends returned home. They find the atmosphere extremely dark. Everyone, including their teacher, develops horns, and starts an act similar to monsters. Doremon discovers that the monsters came out of the game and changed the course of history. To stop the evolution and rule of monsters, friends decide to travel back to fix things. They are disguised as their respective characters and travel back in time.
