Movie Plot: A 19th-century drama about a man whose heart was replaced by a clock at the time of his birth. The situation suggests that he should avoid feeling strong feelings – love, above all – but he cannot hide his feelings. Edinburgh, Scotland In 1874, Jack was born on the coldest day ever. Due to the fierce cold, he is born with a frozen heart that does not beat. The hostess babysitter Madeleine saves her life by replacing her heart with a delicate but working cuckoo clock. She then advises him of three rules to prevent his untimely death: He must never play with the hands of a watch, lose his temper, or fall in love. Jack’s mother, for reasons known only to her, quickly decides that her child will be better raised by Madeleine and leaves Jack. Madeleine, unable to have children of her own, grows and loves him just like her.
