The story revolves around the Millennium Comet, which appears in the night sky for seven days once every thousand years. This is also when the myth awakens from its long sleep to absorb the energy of the Pokémon Jirachi comet. This energy, in turn, is left to the ground, known as forina, where it rests. However, this time, a magician who is known as Butler and his long-time girlfriend Diane traced the stone that surrounds Jirachi, and takes it away from Forina.
Meanwhile, in celebration of the presence of the Millennium Comet, Ash Ketcham and his friends May, Max and Brok arrive at a wide crater, which is the festival of the Millennium Comet. Given where the festival should be, they decide to wait until morning and go to sleep. When they are sleeping, the festival comes; Picachu, Ash’s Pokémon companions, first notice and all others awaken, and they see the establishment of the festivities.
